Cultural Event #3 - Sky Eats Airplane and The Chariot Show

The bands that played at this show were Our Last Night, Lovehatehero, Sky Eats Airplane, The Chariot, and Alesana at the New Brookland Tavern in Columbia. These two pictures are of the lead singers from Sky Eats Airplane, Jerry (top picture), and from The Chariot, Josh (bottom picture). These guys were absolutely AMAZING. I love their music, so i knew right away it was going to be a great show, but I didn't anticipate it to be as amazing as it was. Being right in front of the stage allowed me to talk to the guys as they were setting up to play, and get so many amazing pictures. Sky Eats Airplane played third, so the crowd was already pumped up and ready to hear them play. The first two bands were good, but not as well known, so they did a good job to up the energy in the tavern. Sky Eats Airplane played a good mix of the songs off of their first cd and off of their new cd. All of them had so much energy on stage, they were all walking, slinging their instruments around, and jumping all over the place. They also interacted with the audience well by having them sing along, shout the lyrics into the microphones, and even did a good stage dive every now and then. I went to the show mainly to see The Chariot. They're one of my favorite bands, so I was amped and ready to see them. When they all came on stage Josh announced that all of them were sick, and you could hear it in his voice, but they continued to play like they intended. I had seen them once before last year at the Music Farm with Norma Jean, and I remember how crazy they were, and how much energy they had. Even though they were sick, they acted just as they had when I saw them a year prior to then. The bassist, Jon, was running around stage, slinging his bass around his back, jumping up and down, stage diving, and interacting with all the other band members. At one point during the show, the drummer, Jake, was feeling so bad, that he had the drummer from Our Last Night come and play for him. Josh announced this, and I could tell he was a bit nervous about it. He said that they had never practiced with him, and up until this tour, they didn't know each other. They played one song together, and if you hadn't known any better, you'd be able to swear that he was their usual drummer. He played just as well as Jake had. We didn't stay for Alesana because I didn't have too much interest, but when i left that show, I was so pumped up and so energetic that the last thing I wanted to do was drive home for an hour and a half confined in a car.
